Longer Hollow Legs and I recently went on a jaunt to the Big Apple for a friend’s wedding – and of course, a little holiday. Time away from home and its familiar tastes lends perspective, and I come home feeling incredibly grateful for the food and drink of my local boroughs. Coming home is always bittersweet …

a stack of crepes.
In another life, I spent a summer waitressing at a crepe restaurant in cottage country. This was a year or so after a crepe restaurant would open up on a very busy intersection in the city I grew up in, and a few years before I would move to a city where yet another crepe …
sunshine in a cup.
Mango, banana, coconut flakes, water. It has been a cold and rainy spring, but with a glorious blitz of bright fruits in a blender, one can glow from within! Woooo!!!
seeds of change.
If the ginger doesn’t work out, at least I have little nibs of parsley that are starting to grow! It is amazing and humbling to watch the transformation of nature, especially when it happens in a little clay pot on my windowsill. Thanks Momma Earth!

This recipe was based off of one by …
me so proud!
LOOOOOK!!!! In two weeks, the green onions that I replanted have grown to be almost their original size! I’m so happy and proud of them! I look forward to snipping them into salads and omelettes and the like, while whispering loving words to encourage them to regrow. Happy day!
thank you cookies.
As I get older, I slowly begin to accept myself for being how I am. Accept, and then mitigate, because even though I am allowed to be flawed, it would still be nice to have company. In order to make up for my lacks in social grace, I thrust my cooking and baking on my …
that leftover poached chicken.
Diced poached chicken tossed with mayo, relish, and celery. Eaten on top of Swedish rye crackers with more homegrown alfalfa sprouts. Another simple and delicious meal down the pie hole.
